Willowbridge Place Installation
Our team recently completed the Phase 1 installation of SheerStop Net Bird Deterrent Netting and Wire Trip Stainless Steel Wire Deterrent at Willowbridge Place, directly opposite Willowbridge Shopping Centre in Tygervalley.
Tenants and visitors to Willowbridge Place had been experiencing pest bird infestation within their multi-level Parking Garage, which had lead to contamination in the form of bird droppings on and around their parked vehicles.
Bird droppings have corrosive properties and can seriously damage the paintwork of a vehicle, which is why Willowbridge Place called Bird Deterrent Specialists in to assist with a solution.
During our site inspection, we found that the walls of the parking garage comprised of large openings for natural light, each of which had been fitted with a decorative metal bar construction. Openings in the metal bar construction, however, were large enough for pest birds to enter the parking garage.
Some of the openings incorporated a concrete cast façade present on the outside of some of the openings, providing shade to these areas of the parking garage. The concrete cast facades included horizontal openings, which were also large enough to allow pest birds to enter the parking garage.
It was determined that the optimal solution would be to install both SheerStop Net Bird Deterrent Netting and Wire Trip Stainless Steel Wire Deterrent to the openings, in order to prevent pest birds from entering the parking garage.
SheerStop Net Bird Deterrent Netting, is an extremely durable form of netting which is “invisible” to the eye, and therefore aesthetically pleasing when installed. The SheerStop Net Bird Deterrent Netting was used to completely cover each of the openings stipulated for Phase 1 of the installation.
Wire Trip Stainless Steel Wire Deterrent comprises self-tensioning parallel stainless steel monofilament strands of 0.3mm diameter, supported on stainless steel posts, 65mm above a surface at 40mm centres, including specially manufactured stainless steel springs so that they can never be overstretched. Wire Trip Stainless Steel Wire Deterrent was installed to the horizontal openings within the concrete cast façades.
Phase 1 of the installation was completed successfully, and Willowbridge Place are already experiencing a reduction in pest bird activity in their parking garage. Once the entire parking garage has been completed, Willowbridge Place tenants and visitors will enjoy a pest bird free environment.
